Refurbishments
Home refurbishments that feel cohesive end to end
Refresh a single floor or transform the whole property. From Wigmore in Gillingham, Napwood coordinates multi-trade refurbishments across Medway and Kent so the finish is consistent and the programme stays controlled. Request a quotation once we understand the rooms involved.
Partial or whole-house
We handle room-by-room updates and larger phased refurbishments — plastering, doors, skirtings, kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and decoration — under one point of contact. Where the brief includes opening rooms or growing the footprint, we link that work to our structural alteration and house extension services rather than treating every change as decoration.
A clear scope document matters as much as the finish. We agree which rooms are in, which trades run in parallel, and what “complete” looks like before the first skip arrives, so partial updates do not leave neighbouring rooms looking unfinished.
- Room-by-room or whole-house programmes
- Plaster, joinery, kitchens and bathrooms in one plan
- Flooring and decoration sequenced with the trades
- One site contact for programme and quality
Ideal for dated Medway properties
Many local homes have good bones but tired interiors. A planned refurbishment can modernise layout and specification without the cost of relocating. Our full-home Medway case study shows how plaster, joinery and finishes are aligned house-wide when the programme is run as one job.
Rochester, Chatham, Rainham, Gillingham and Wigmore stock varies — Victorian terraces, 1930s semis and later estate homes each need different detailing. We plan around the building you have, not a generic catalogue finish.
Kitchens and bathrooms inside a wider refresh
When a kitchen or bathroom is only one part of a larger refresh, it still needs its own first-fix and second-fix sequence. We treat those rooms as milestones inside the house programme so tiling, electrics and decoration land in the right order.
If the kitchen is the only room changing, start with kitchen renovations. If you need more floor area as well as new finishes, combine a house or kitchen extension with the refurbishment rather than forcing everything into a decoration-only brief.
- Kitchen fit-out timed with plaster and flooring
- Bathroom waterproofing before decoration
- Honest routing to renovation-only or extension pages when that is clearer
When a conversion or extension is the better call
If you need a genuine extra bedroom in the roof, start with loft conversions. If an unused garage can become living space without losing essential parking, see garage conversions. If you need more ground-floor area, house extensions are the commercial priority. We will not push a full refurbishment when a smaller, clearer scope solves the brief.
FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Can you phase a refurbishment around our budget?
Yes. We often stage works so living spaces remain usable and cashflow stays manageable.
Can a kitchen renovation sit inside a wider home refurbishment?
Yes. Many Medway briefs combine a kitchen or bathroom refresh with plaster, joinery and decoration house-wide. We plan those rooms as milestones in one programme. If the kitchen is the only room changing, the kitchen renovations page is the clearer starting point.
Should I refurbish or extend?
Refurbish when the footprint works but finishes, kitchens, bathrooms or layout inside the existing walls need updating. Extend when you need more floor area or a new structural volume. We advise which route — or combination — fits after seeing the property.
Do you provide carpentry and joinery?
Yes — bespoke wardrobes, media walls, doors and trim are a core strength thanks to Gary’s background.
Is refurbishment work guaranteed?
Eligible Napwood work carries a 12-month workmanship guarantee, subject to written terms. Public liability insurance details are available on request.
Do you work across Medway and Kent?
Yes. Our operating base is Wigmore, Gillingham. We regularly work across Medway and take on suitable Kent projects that fit how we work.
