The challenge
The family needed a versatile rear room for lounging and guests, without a heavy brick mass that would darken the original house.
Our approach
We kept the form simple and glazed generously, matching tones to the existing home while using contemporary framing for a crisp finish.
The outcome
The garden room is now the most-used space in the house — bright by day, welcoming by night, and neatly tied into the garden.
Threshold detailing and patio levels were set so the bifolds open without a trip hazard — small craft that changes how the room is used.
