Talk before the letters
Show next door the drawings. Explain the programme, working hours and where skips will sit. People fear the unknown more than the extension itself.
If planning is needed, they may be consulted formally. A friendly heads-up is still worth doing. Party wall is separate — do not confuse the two conversations.
On-site manners
Noise, dust, shared driveway access and scaffolding oversailing are the flashpoints. We run tidy sites, keep to agreed hours and warn before particularly noisy days like steel install.

Not always for planning, but party wall may still apply, and courtesy still helps. We recommend a conversation either way.
What hours do you work?
Typically standard weekday site hours. We confirm specifics in the contract and avoid early starts that wind neighbours up.
Will you speak to my neighbours?
