A classic UK living-room brief delivered with carpentry precision: chimney breast and alcoves built out into a seamless media wall with recessed TV, integrated fireplace and lit shelving — no cables on show.
The challenge
The clients wanted the “hotel lounge” look: a flush TV, hidden wiring, fireplace warmth and display shelving that felt built-in rather than bolted on. Off-the-shelf units would never sit true to the chimney and alcoves.
Our approach
Gary’s carpentry background shaped a bespoke frame that follows the room’s quirks. Services were planned before boarding, shelves were balanced on both sides, and finishes were detailed so the wall reads as architecture, not furniture.
The outcome
The living room now has a calm focal point: technology disappears into the joinery, lighting lifts the shelves, and the whole wall feels custom-made for the house.
Concealed cabling, accurate recesses and consistent paint finish are what separate a DIY look from professional joinery. Every edge and reveal was checked before sign-off.

Clearing the wall
The old surround and finishes were removed so we could set out a true, square framework for the new media wall.

Studwork, electrical points and fireplace provision went in — the structure of the finished wall becoming visible.

A navy, cable-free media wall with recessed TV, linear fireplace and matching lit oak shelves in both alcoves.
